Artist's Studio
The design of this professional art studio was informed by the daylighting requirements and the ergonomic work conditions for the artist. For his large scale oil paintings he prefers the canvas on a vertical wall surface, with dedicated ventilation for indoor air quality. His other typical medium, acrylic paint, is done on large horizontal tables. A roll-up door for large formats and frame storage are also part of the lower shed roof wing. The upright gable volume of the oil painting studio echoes the artist's straw bale home which we designed in 1998.
